Eric Yarbrough, M.D.

LGBTQ-oriented Therapy

LGBTQ-oriented Therapy

Much of my training has been working on the mental health and well-being of LGBTQ people. While I work with many psychiatric symptoms, therapy can focus on concerns specific to growing up and living queer in a mostly straight world.

Topics common to the LGBTQ population include coming out, intimacy, relationship styles, sexuality, and gender identity.

Many LGBTQ people suffer from symptoms of depression, anxiety, substance use, and PTSD. Both symptoms and sexual/gender identity will be the focus of sessions.

TGNC-specific Care

TGNC-specific Care

There are not many psychiatrists who work comprehensively with gender diverse people. I've been lucky to work in environments where I received supervision and training on working with the TGNC population.

TGNC-specific care not only focuses on the gender identity of the individual, but it also provides practical supports when needed. Letters of support for gender-affirming procedures, connection to hormones, advocacy for name changes or immigration status can all be needed in addition to standard mental health treatment.

TGNC-specific care provides room for all of these topics.

Part of working with the LGBTQ population is also providing psychiatric information to legal cases around specific queer-related topics.

I can provide expert witness testimony on a case-by-case basis. Please contact me for further information.
